Textured Waves has been taking strides in reaching diversity, gaining the attention of significant brands like Vans, Adidas, and Vogue.
ROXY
ROXY, another company Danielle has worked with, was born with a similar purpose but a different concept. The business was born as an encouragement for women to take even bigger steps into diversity in surfing. In a market where products were made thinking of the male body, ROXY’s purpose was to be a brand made for women.
Lyons took the role of Ambassador with pride, as she felt it was a brand that encouraged all she has ever supported as an activist. ROXY was born for those like Danielle, who love and respect the ocean and the environment, becoming way more than simply a feminine swimwear clothing line.
The partnership felt perfect for both sides, as supporting the brand would be giving continuity to her work throughout the feminine community of surfers worldwide.
Bending Her Agenda Through Life & Surfing
Lyons is also making a difference through her example. She also proved through her own experience that living the intensity of the waters did not stop her from being an excellent companion and parent, nor did it stop other activities she cultivates.
Having graduated in Arts in college, she uses the ocean as her source of inspiration to produce her works. She features her art around the events she takes part in to raise awareness for her cause.
As a mother, Danielle discovered surfing as a way of reconnecting herself with her own being and mind and finding purpose in life after traumatic postpartum experiences. Being physically incapable of investing in her favorite hobby for four months, Lyons found her mental state deteriorated. Only when she got back to surfing did she learn once more what made her a human, helping her connect to her newborn son and those around her.
